Refereeing in South Wales

So................ contemplated taking up refereeing?

You may ask yourself ~ Why do referees do it?

Well there are many reasons such as:

ü You want to referee at the highest level posible

ü You want to keep active in football after your playing career is over

ü You want to referee your local junior teams’ matches

ü You simply think that you could do a better job than the last referee you saw!

If you tick any of the above then take the next step – participate on a FAW Referees Training Course.

Age is not a factor when starting out nor does it matter if you are male or female.

Some referees have the ambition to referee on the Principality Welsh Premier League or even Internationally (Fifa) but for many keeping continued involvement locally, putting something back into the game and officiating on local league games.

This is where you start!

And yes there are advantages:

·         Exercise.

·         Involvement in the game you love.

·         Enjoyment – ever wondered why other referees do it?

We will lead you through the stages of becoming a referee – understanding the Laws of Association Football, how to make decisions correctly, how to deal with problematic situations – and yes - even how to deal with moaners !

Without referees the game in Wales would be much poorer.

Support is continuos, there are 9 Referee Societies throughout South Wales to help, advise, develop, support and assist you as well as the SWFA. You will never be on your own.

Who knows you could progress and join the 4 Fifa Referees and 8 Fifa Referee Assistants who represent Wales in the International arena.
