The Referees Association

Lichfield & Dist. Referees Association

About the Society

Thanks for visiting the Lichfield & District Referees Association web site.
The societies' area covers referees in Lichfield, Whittington, Burntwood etc.

Our meetings are held monthly in the Windmill Function Room, which is on the corner of Grange Lane and Wheel Lane, on the first Thursday of each month from August through to April.
(In January we meet on the second Thursday.)
The meetings commence at 8.00pm and finish at 10pm (so the younger members can get home at a reasonable time).
Members and non-members are all welcome. (See the dates under This Seasons Association Meetings - below).

We are affiliated to the Referee's Association and to Staffordshire Football Association and thence to the F.A.
Usually there are around 50 members each season from all standards of refereeing and aged between 14 all the way up to 'Mac' who is 78.
We currently have members who officiate on the Conference and one who is an Assistant Referee at the top level,
Most, however, are active on the local leagues.

Meetings, are now very informal social occasions as the members decided, some years ago, that the committee should deal with all the business on their behalf .
We chat about all aspects of football and refereeing. Very often we have a guest speaker who is invited to give us the benefit of their experiences.
The Society can hold a number of social events over the course of the season including five-a-side, cricket, quiz, car treasure hunt etc.
You can contact Lichfield & Dist. Referees Association by e-mail on
lichfield_ra@hotmail.com
or phone one of the listed numbers.

If anyone cares to let us know why we produce so many new Referees but they then don't join the Referees Association we would love to know.
E-mail the Secretary with your comments on the e-mail address above

Training of New Referees

Want to Be a Football Referee.

Age 14 upwards Male or Female you can train as a Soccer Referee!

Do you want to reach for the heights of Wembley or participate in Local football?

All referees start at this point with the Basic Referees Training Course.

The course is run by, very experienced, qualified Football Association Instructors, and is  held at Chasetown Specialist Sports College which is very close to the mini roundabouts in the centre of Chasetown. It normally takes 8- 10 weeks of one evening a week to cover everything.

HOWEVER

It is intended to run, for the first time, a weekend training course at which you will cover everything required to become a referee and also sit the required exams to qualify.

It will be a very intensive week-end and you will be doing two days of 8 hours each.

The course will be held on 31st May & 1st June 2008.

For more details contact Mike on 01543 411135 or Peter on 01543 676695

There are many, over the years, who have been trained by Peter and the team.

I have asked Peter how many?
Still waiting for the answer
(Peter has run out of fingers and toes) but he has promised to come up with a figure. Sometime!
