Jock Waugh was our guest speaker for the April Meeting and provided an excellent insight into being a football referee and how he was able to use "visualisation" to manage difficult situations with ease.
Richard Caborn was our guest speaker for January's meeting on the 21st. All who attended the meeting enjoyed hearing about the Olympics bid and the 2018 World Cup bid.
Thanks to all who attended our Christmas Party. The night was a great success. Thanks must also go to Brian Coddington and his family for organising the event.
Martin Edwards and Tom Bramhall were our guest speaker for the November meeting. They spoke to us regarding the young referees conference that they attended earlier this year.

Thanks to Paul Thompson for attending our August meeting. His presentation regarding attitudes and perception was warmly recieved by all members of the association. We wish Paul all the best for the coming season.
The October meeting was held on the 15th. Andy Hogg was our guest speaker. He spoke on the role of the Assistant Referee with a focus on pre-match preperation. We also discussed situations that may occur during the match and the action that the assistant should take.

This year we are introducing a 'question corner' - your chance to discuss any problems from a game with experienced colleagues - whatever level you referee at. Great for new referees!

We have also changed the format for the start of the meeting. Instead of reading the minutes out we are now going to display them at the front on a projector. This gives you more time to read them as well as allowing more time for our guest speaker.

The Sheffield FAMOA night was held on Thursday 8th September. Participants took part in discussion sessions examining 'match control' incidents that have occured in the Premier League as well as listening to FIFA list Assistant Glenn Turner. Glenn spoke about the 3 most important attributes of an assistant - 3 C's (concentration, courage and commitment). Everyone who attended found the evening extremely productive.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SHEFFIELD R.A FOOTBALL TEAM, who retained the five aside trophy on Sunday 27th September.
After some confusion over claiming for FAMOA points the following article has been released to clear any misunderstandings. Click here to view it.

Please Note: All teams who are refereed must be affiliated by the F.A. Although most leagues are sanctioned some are not and therefore when refereeing friendlies it is important to check this with the F.A. Also there are some five/small sided leagues which are not affiliated. Also remember to check with the F.A regarding small sided fixtures. Phil Palmer and Craig Grundy are the people you should get in touch with.
Brian Hinchcliffe has resigned from the Wragg Over 35's Saturday League. Sylvia Topham is temperarily taking over the role.
The JB Holland final is going to take place in February. It's a 2:30 kick off. Date and venue yet to be confirmed.
